The Kratom Strain Guide

Kratom strains are grouped by vein colour — red, green and white — reflecting when the leaf is harvested, plus yellow, gold and black, which are extended cures of that leaf. Red is the mature-leaf classic, green is the balanced middle, and white is the bright, young-leaf profile. This guide compares all 17 single-origin strains Kratom Temple ships across Canada — by vein, region and aroma — and links you straight to each product.

Common questions

Kratom strain FAQ

What's the difference between red, green and white vein kratom?

The colours refer to the leaf's central vein at harvest. Red-vein leaves are picked mature for a deep, earthy aroma; green-vein leaves mid-harvest for a fresh, balanced profile; white-vein leaves early for a bright, crisp character. Yellow, gold and black are extended cures of those same leaves.

What does the vein colour in kratom mean?

Vein colour describes the shade of the leaf's stem and central vein when it's harvested and dried — not an additive or a grade. It's the main way single-origin kratom is categorised: red, green and white, with yellow, gold and black created through longer drying and curing.

Where does kratom come from?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. The strains in this guide are single-origin from regions including Borneo, Bali, Sumatra, the Aceh province and the Kapuas Hulu highlands, plus classic Thai and Maeng Da lineages. Each region gives the leaf its own colour and aroma.

What is Maeng Da kratom?

Maeng Da isn't a region — it's a lineage name, traditionally used for premium, higher-grade leaf. At Kratom Temple it's available across every vein: Super Green, Super Red, Super White, Yellow and Black Maeng Da, each finely sifted from selected leaf.

Which kratom strain should I start with?

Green-vein strains are the usual starting point because they sit between the mature reds and the bright whites. Super Green Maeng Da and Green Sumatra are popular first picks, and you can branch into a red like Original Bali or a white like Super White Borneo from there.

Is kratom legal in Canada?

Yes. Kratom is legal to buy and sell in Canada, but under the Food and Drugs Act it cannot be marketed or sold for human consumption. Kratom Temple offers it strictly as a botanical and aromatherapy product. Every strain is third-party lab-tested and shipped Canada-wide.

How many kratom strains does Kratom Temple carry?

This guide covers 17 single-origin strains: six red-vein, five green-vein, three white-vein, two yellow/gold and one black. Many are also available as capsules, extracts and sampler packs, so you can try a vein or region before committing to a larger size.
